Personal Statement
The Yale Bassett Award recognizes students with a record of creative leadership and public service, academic distinction, interdisciplinary problem solving, and experience addressing societal issues that might include, but need not be limited to, race and racism. Please use the space below to write a brief personal statement (up to 500 words) that details one or more experiences when you addressed a societal issue and/or demonstrated creative leadership, public service, or interdisciplinary problem solving.

The Yale Center for the Study of Race Indigeneity and Transnational Migration sponsors the Yale Bassett Award independently from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Applying for the Yale Bassett Award will not affect a student’s chances of being admitted to Yale College.
