2026 Yale in Motion Application

Application Instructions

Thank you for your interest in participating in Yale’s annual student fly-in program, Yale in Motion, October 2-4, 2026.

Yale in Motion is a three-day two-night program that centers Community Day at Yale. This fully funded program will allow participants to engage Yale’s cultural centers, student groups, faculty, and resource centers, through panels, performances, showcases, and tours. Participants will also complete a college application workshop and experience Yale’s residential college system.

This application is due July 1, 2026. Decisions will be released via email by early August. Applicants who are selected to participate will receive funding for travel and will be hosted on campus with a current student.

This application will take approximately 30-60 minutes to complete. The application form will not save your progress; it is recommended that you complete the form in one session. The application includes two brief short answer responses:

Prompt 1: Why would you like to participate in this program? How do you think it would serve you in your college application process? (400 words or less)
Prompt 2: Reflect on a time you discussed an issue important to you with someone holding an opposing view. Why did you find the experience meaningful? (400 words or less)

Complete applications must include a copy of your most recent high school transcript with grades through the end of junior year. Screenshots or pictures of your transcript are acceptable.

If you are selected for the fly-in program, the following information will be used to book your travel arrangements (and may be required by transportation providers).

Yale in Motion begins in the evening on Friday, October 2 and ends on the morning of Sunday, October 4.
